South Australia has recorded its first coronavirus death after a man died in the Royal Adelaide Hospital intensive care unit overnight.

Nine South Australians remain in intensive care being treated for COVID-19, with the youngest of them aged 44.

The state recorded just two new coronavirus cases for its second consecutive day, but health authorities warned the low numbers could be due to lower testing rates at the weekend. Emergency coronavirus legislation will go before South Australian parliament today, including legislation which would ban landlords from evicting tenants experiencing financial hardship.

So you have this tension between the economic imperative and the health imperative.'\n\nImage: AP\n\n
