Cultural surveys begin on more sacred rock art found at Mount Arapiles in Victoria.
There have been tensions this year between the climbing community, Parks Victoria and traditional owners over climbing bans in the Grampians.
Chris Peisker, a licensed tour operator who works at Mount Arapiles, does not support the latest ban."There's probably only five areas at Mount Arapiles that work really well for tours and groups, and this is one of them." The group was recently formed to try and improve the relationship between climbers, traditional owners and Parks Victoria."That our favourite climbing area is also home to such historical treasures, should be celebrated."
Parks Victoria chief executive Matthew Jackson said long-term protection of the area would now be considered.
