Sadie Sink discussed her ideal storyline for Max in StrangerThings Season 5.🤔 'It feels like she’s ready to let people back into her life, heal, and move on from everything. Sadly, that was interrupted... I would like to see her go further with that.'

Sadie Sink reveals her ideal Stranger Things season 5 storyline for Max following her character's brush with death during the season 4 finale. Picking up eight months after season 3's Battle of Starcourt that saw Billy sacrifice himself to save Eleven from the Mind Flayer, Stranger Things season 4 finds Max Mayfield coping with the loss of her stepbrother and suffering from severe PTSD. This made her a prime target for Vecna, who targets young Hawkins residents suffering from trauma.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY After several gruesome murders, Max becomes Vecna's final target he needs to kill in order to open a series of portals between the Upside Down and Hawkins. During one of Stranger Things season 4's most memorable scenes, Max is able to break Vecna's spell and escape his lair unscathed with the help of her favorite song, Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill.

"Poor Max—who knows? She’s definitely not able to make it to the movie date on Friday. A lot is up in the air. But after this whole experience, she’s probably learned a lot about the value of keeping people close in her life. We see a little glimpse of that in episode 9, when she agrees to the movie date. It feels like she’s ready to let people back into her life, heal, and move on from everything. Sadly, that was interrupted.

Sink's response references the plans Max and Lucas made for a movie date during the Stranger Things season 4 finale, which never came into fruition given her state after the battle against Vecna. Early on during season 4, Max was depressed and distanced from her friends, but once she fears she doesn't have much time left, Max comes to terms with her feelings by writing letters to her friends.

Unfortunately, Max's character progression was brought to a sudden halt by Vecna, and it remains to be seen if she ever returns to her usual self. The Duffer brothers confirmed that Max is alive, but also brain dead, so it's unclear how she could come back to Lucas and the gang. With Eleven unable to find Max in the void, there is also a possibility she is still under Vecna's control.
