Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has addressed not going ‘far enough’ with his £130,000,000 free school meals plan. Charities have been quick to point out that scheme doesn’t address the thousands of children who struggle for meals during school holidays.

Jonathan Petrides, CEO and Founder of allplants said that while the announcement is a ‘step in the right direction’ there’s still more to be done.

Mr Petrides said: ‘We’re hopeful that this will be the start of more local leaders supporting families, as the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite. ‘It’s a tragedy that two years since the realities of holiday hunger reached the national conversation, charities and local organisations are having to fill the gap left by the government.’
