The alarm was raised on Sunday when a man was reported missing after a regular welfare check at his property located at a large cattle station near Marla.
Nine State Emergency Service volunteers have been deployed to the search from Coober Pedy and Adelaide.
Authorities describe the area as "rugged terrain" and weather conditions are expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius today. Marla is a remote town in South Australia's north-west around 970 kilometres from the state's capital Adelaide.
