More accommodation could be built to help tackle the problem
The town hall has backed a plan to build 18 supported accommodation homes, for people aged 18 to 25 who are at risk of homelessness in the city.
Once complete, it is proposed to transfer ownership of the new homes to Derive, a council-owned housing company. Mr Dennett has also pledged to build hundreds of new council houses around Salford to try and tackle the issue, with Conservatives in the borough suggesting that empty council offices could be used as temporary accommodation.
