Australian football superstar Sam Kerr has seemingly distanced herself from the Matildas’ abysmal Olympics campaign ... and it has not gone unnoticed. Unlike the FIFA Women’s World Cup when Kerr was injured but still the face of the team , the captain was nowhere to be seen as the Matildas bombed out in Paris. Even on Kerr’s busy Instagram page, there was a deafening silence around the Matildas ... the team she captains.

“Obviously can’t speak in terms of his future within the job, but it never is helpful when you underperform as a team, and the team would feel like we’ve underperformed at this tournament. “In saying that, sometimes it’s good shift to kick us up the bum and push us a bit further. “There are good and bads out of underperforming ... but we will see what the future holds.” She called the failed campaign “really disappointing” and said “the girls will definitely be feeling that disappointment”.
