Is this Pat Cummins' 'best' Test win? | 11:08 Australia n coach Andrew McDonald has described dashing opener Sam Konstas as a “quick learner” who will flourish with his exposure to champion performers including Steve Smith . Australia n cricket team training: Sam Konstas with coach Andrew McDonald.
“And can you get that at Shield cricket? There’s no doubt he can. But when you go a level up, the exposure to this level, I think it creates different conversations. And I think he’s a fast learner, so I think he is on the right path.”The Australian coach said he is still in the process of getting to know the newcomer, whose dare when scoring 60 in the opening innings set the stage for an incredible Boxing Day Test.
“His ability to put pressure on, and I think people talk about heavy duty runs in the first innings, and he put the pressure back on and allowed our middle order to get to work. And Steve Smith capitalised on that and Marnus was good, so it set the tone. There’s no doubt about that. I thought that combination of top looked like something going forward that could work.
“Clearly Starc is carrying something of some description. We’ll assess that. But other than that, it looks as though we got through pretty well unscathed but short turnaround and recovery is important, and we’ll assess what the team looks like in Sydney based upon the surface, as we always do.” “I think the morning session there, the 20 plus overs that we bowled there, is probably as good as we’ve delivered.”"I was having a heart attack in the box" | 01:17
