NRL: The Kangaroos are hoping to seek revenge by defeating New Zealand in the Pacific Championships.
Samoa coach Ben Gardiner has opened up on the roles superstarans Jarome Luai and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will play in their eagerly awaited series against England.
Gardiner, who worked with Luai as an assistant coach at Penrith in 2024, is excited to see him take the next step as an International halfback, after spending time there in the absence of the injured Nathan Cleary at club level last season. However, the Samoa coach praised Luai for maturing this season at Panthers and believes he is ready to take on more responsibility for his country and the Tigers next year.“There was a big change in maturity level from his point of view and when he did sign with the Tigers, I think he saw that as some responsibility came with that as well.
Despite playing centre for the Warriors in 2024, Gardiner is excited to see Tuivasa-Sheck in his natural position and the veteran fullback is like a rookie again ahead of his Samoan debut.“We have spoken about it throughout the year and he has had different opportunities with the Warriors in 2024. “It is really exciting to see what he is going to bring for us on Sunday because a happy footballer is usually a pretty good footballer.”
