A jury handed Wardell Lemon, 46, a 10-year prison sentence following his conviction last week on a charge of indecency with a child, according to the Bexar County district attorney's office.The conviction carries a punishment range of two years to 20 years. Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said he was pleased with the outcome.
“The sentence sends a clear message: child sexual abuse will not be tolerated,” Gonzales said in a written statement. “We commend the victim’s bravery in coming forward and hope this verdict brings closure and healing.” The incidents of abuse occurred in or about 2015 during the child’s visits with family members in San Antonio. They were initially reported by the victim to a guardian.
