SAN ANTONIO - The Migrant Resource Center here in San Antonio is over max capacity with more than double the number of migrants compared to the surge that happe

ned earlier this year when Title 42 ended.The man said he comes from Venezuela and the trek to the United States border took him, what seemed like forever, but when he reached Eagle Pass, he said his asylum claim was processed immediately.

That’s how he ended up in San Antonio. Texas Representative Tony Gonzales said this is happening too often and the center is overflowing with people seeking asylum. Catholic Charities released official numbers comparing this surge, to the surge that happened earlier in 2023 when Title 42 ended. The week of May 15th there were 2,960 people in need of help. That’s compared to the week of September 25 when the center helped 6,472 people.
