SAN ANTONIO- For months, we told you about the staffing challenges facing our local public school districts.
"What we’re experiencing is not anything new that other districts aren’t experiencing," says Theresa Urrabazo, Chief of Data Operations at SAISD. Take a look: enrollment is just over 44,738, down 983 students compared to last year. The total number of staff is 6805, last year it was 7233. The total number of teachers this year, was 2933, last year it was 3064.
"We have about 16 vacancies right now, which is good from the start of the school year," says Patricia Mendoza Human Resources with Edgewood ISD."As of yesterday, we still have 184 vacancies across our district in multiple areas," says Barry Perez from NISD.
