The suspect and a driver fled the neighborhood in a dark-colored sedan, authorities said.
SAN CARLOS — A burglary suspect who broke into a home Friday evening allegedly struck a person living there before fleeing in a vehicle, authorities said.
The suspect, a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and bandana, is wanted for first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies responded at 8:02 p.m. Friday to the 3300 block of Melendy Drive, in a quiet residential neighborhood in the San Carlos hills.
The resident, who was at home during the suspect’s forced entry, interrupted the burglary. During an ensuing confrontation, the suspect verbally threatened and then struck the victim. Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies that the suspect left the home through the front entrance to a dark-colored, newer-looking sedan waiting out front, where he and the driver fled.In a statement, the sheriff’s office asked anyone with information about the crime to call 650-363-4911, or the anonymous tip line, 1-800-547-2700.
