Demolition crews and a pair of excavators have slowly been tearing down the E.G."Frenchie" Anders Physical Education Building, known as Anders Gym, which after being built in the 1960s put San Jacinto College on the national map for decades through the Ravens, its men's basketball program. "Without that gym, there would be no Sam Cassell. There might be a Sam Cassell, but it wouldn't be the San Jac Sam Cassell that we know. There wouldn't be a Steve Francis that we know," said South Houston High School product Elton Dyer, who was a member of that next-to-last Ravens team, which played in 2016-17."Everybody in Pasadena, if they were a basketball fan, if they were a volleyball fan, they cherished this gym. This gym brought so many families together.
But with then Trojans head coach Patrick McCoy's help and a crucial phone call to the Ravens office, Dyer's career took off.
