SAN JOSE — A woman has died from injuries she sufferedas she walked across McLaughlin Avenue over the weekend, police said, continuing a troublingly historic pace of roadway deaths in San Jose.

The collision was reported at about 6:40 p.m. Saturday on McLaughlin Avenue, when the driver of a 2015 Nissan Rogue SUV heading southbound hit the woman as she crossed the street near Idlewood Drive. While the woman was described as having suffered serious injuries, police on Saturday initially stated that she had “stabilized.” But on Sunday, she died from her injuries. Her name has not been public released pending formal notification of her next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.The collision marked the city’s 20th traffic death of the year and the 11th involving a pedestrian who died. At the same point last year, seven roadway deaths had been recorded.
