Cordeiro throws two touchdowns to help the Spartans beat his old team, the Rainbow Warriors
The Spartans gave themselves some breathing room with a 10-play, 75-yard drive to open the second half, with Kairee Robinson bouncing outside to the left to score on a 1-yard run with 9:46 left in the third quarter. Robinson wound up with a career-best 148 rushing yards.But Hawaii showed it wasn’t ready to give in, going 75 yards in seven plays with Shager connecting with wide receiver Steven Fiso for a 27-yard gain to open the drive, the hitting him with a 22-yard TD strike.
Cordeiro and Cooks connected on a pair of touchdowns to help the Spartans forge a 14-6 halftime lead. The Rainbow Warriors moved into range for three field-goal attempts, with Matthew Shipley missing from 44 yards before converting from 46 and 27 yards. The second of those came after cornerback Virdel Edwards II picked off a Cordeiro pass that bounced off the hands of receiver Justin Lockhart.
