SAN PABLO — A person and a dog were killed in a fire Friday afternoon in San Pablo, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
The fire was reported around 4:15 p.m. in the 2600 block of Dover Avenue, the district said in a social media post. Firefighters arrived to find flames and heavy smoke coming from a triplex. Power lines were also down in front of the building. Following a “quick and aggressive attack on the fire,” firefighters searched the triplex and found a person and a dog unresponsive inside, according to the district.
The district said the person received CPR at the scene and was rushed to Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. The dog also died. Fire crews arrived on scene of a duplex in San Pablo w/one unit fully involved. While mitigating a live power line, crews made a quick and aggressive attack on the fire. In searching the structure, crews found one occupant and one dog unresponsive in the residence.
