Matt Mullins of leading pub owners Sand Hill Road Group has listed his incredible Brighton home that looks similar to St Kilda’s The Espy. SEE INSIDE

The family installed a sports court at the front of the house.

“Just like The Espy, the home was a beautiful old Victorian-era building that was just in need of some love and attention, but the bones were excellent,” he said. “Even the additions over the years were done really respectfully, it just needed a bit of love and, just like The Espy, without ripping the soul out of the place, so that’s what we did.Milton, whose handiwork can be seen in the beautifully distressed walls of the updated iconic St Kilda pub, did the pink, and green walls of the home’s front rooms.Interior designer Eleisha Gray, who has “worked on pretty much every one” of Sand Hill Road’s venues over the past decade, also worked on the house.

The Richmond Club, Garden State, The Posty and Prahran Hotel are some of the group’s venues; they sold The Espy to Australian Venue Co. for about $100m mid-year.Mr Mullins said he and wife Sophie loved renovating properties so would move onto the next project, with their three children under 10 in tow.A new gym sits by the pool and spa at the rear.“We spend a lot of time entertaining there with our kids and family and friends,” he said.

“We’ve absolutely loved hearing the screaming of kids from the front sports court, jumping on the tramp, then being with the adults at the back, kitchen, living zone making pizzas out there, with kids jumping in the pool, off the diving board, sitting in the spa.”Two big changes the family made were adding a home cinema, and a gym by the pool.“It’s a single-level dream, with so much character,” he said.Sign up to the Herald Sun Weekly Real Estate Update.
