A 41-year-old man is under arrest after allegedly contacting a friend in hopes that they would help commit a murder.
“This did not go any further than the solicitation. We don’t believe the victim is in any danger,” Keehn said Wednesday. “We take all threats seriously and a threat to solicit someone to commit murder is a felony. Even though there was no action behind that, it is still considered a serious crime.”
Semien, of Boulder Creek, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday for his alleged involvement in the crime, charged with one count each of soliciting to commit murder and criminal threats. Semien is scheduled to appear for arraignment on the new charges Thursday morning in Santa Cruz County Superior Court.
At the time of his arrest, Semien was out of jail on bond related to an August 2019 incident that resulted in a charge of allegedly making felony-level threats. That case remains ongoing at Santa Cruz County Superior Court.
