The 37\u002Dyear\u002Dold man is accused of sexually assaulting his spouse and her daughter over four years while they lived in Saskatoon.
Speaking to a Saskatoon police officer, a 15-year-old girl said her former stepfather sexually abused her for five years and threatened to kill her and her mother if she told anyone about it.
The girl, now 17, is testifying by video at her former stepfather’s judge-alone trial. Her police statement is the subject of a voir dire to determine its admissibility.The 37-year-old man is charged with two counts each of sexual assault, uttering threats, unlawful confinement and assault, and one count each of sexual assault with a weapon and sexual interference.He is accused ofbetween January 2016 and December 2020 while they lived in Saskatoon.
In the police video, the girl said she was 11 or 12 years old when the accused said he had to check her vagina and began touching her genitals while wearing a glove. When her mother found out and tried to stop him, he pushed her to the ground, grabbed a knife, held it against her neck and threatened to kill her, the girl told Smallbones.
