Saville’s no stranger to consumer lending businesses. His Somers Limited owns 19.9 per cent of Thorn, which in turn owns a leasing business born out of the old Radio Rentals, which is a competitor to Humm’s commercial leasing business. Another strong-minded investor is arguably the last thing Humm needs, given the clear split between its board and biggest shareholder Andrew Abercrombie. Tanarra Capital’s also in the background, while its founder John Wylie is also on the board.
