V will change in Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Cyberpunk 2077's character customization will see some big changes with the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC, some of which may put V's build at stake. Customization is a major part of the game, presenting choices around the default character V's look, skills, and lifepath at the beginning of Cyberpunk 2077. It doesn't end there, though.

Phantom Liberty will also rework Cyberpunk 2077's Cyberware system of upgrades. This furthers the level of control players have over their builds as their characters develop, allowing them to add or remove active, passive, and conditional abilities at will. Since this customization mechanic is changing, too, V will be required to undergo a procedure to completely reset their Cyberware and allow them to reboot their internal systems from scratch.

The issue of Cyberware enhancements, however, is a little more complicated. The original Cyberpunk tabletop game incorporated a mechanic called Cyberpsychosis, where characters with too many cybernetic implants would lose touch with reality and, eventually, all semblance of self-control. This was basically a death sentence for the player character, as lack of control usually meant they'd run afoul of enemy gangs or police and get themselves killed.

This should allow for greater cybernetic abilities at greater personal risk, and may actually increase Cyberpunk 2077 customization in certain cases. It'll definitely drive certain types of characters to commit to their strengths and avoid their weaknesses. For example, hacking-focused characters may be able to install more Cyberware to help them get past tough systems, but that might come at the cost of HP and force them to avoid combat.
