His name, for the benefit of Tony Harrison, Jermell Charlo or anyone else who has mocked him for supposedly riding on the coat tails of his famous father, is Tim Tszyu.
Tszyu is now a world champion, albeit an interim one, after beating the only man who has defeated undisputed champion Charlo. On the same day that brother Nikita kept his undefeated record intact with a knockout win of his own against the previously undefeated Bo Belbin, Tszyu stopped American Tony Harrison with half-a-dozen vicious uppercuts in the ninth round.
“The respect is always there,” said Tszyu after securing the technical knockout victory. “I was smart. I knew he had a jab. He’s the man that beat the man.“It means I just beat the man that beat the man. What does that make me?“A message was sent, clearly. You know what’s up. You know what’s next. I’m coming,” Tszyu said.
He did so with devastating effect in the ninth - all of the American’s losses have come in the championship rounds - to set up a clash with Charlo.While content with the achievement, Tszyu wants more.
