Police have appealed to the public for information about a fire on October 17, 15km east of Kempsey, which has been brought under control after burning through nearly 3,000 hectares in the Hat Head National Park. "There's some that are escaped from property owners that have been trying to do hazard reductions themselves and they've lost control, but other ones are deemed to be suspicious and obviously we'll work with police to try and work out what happened there."
