Cricket fans have draped themselves in pink for the 15th annual Jane McGrath Day at the SCG after festivities were pushed back due to rain.
The Sydney Test was dubbed the Pink Test back in 2009 when it began its association with the McGrath Foundation and has since become one of the flagship events on the cricket calendar.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the SCG as breast care nurses and volunteers walk around the stands selling McGrath Foundation bandanas and paraphernalia with donation collection buckets. “It’s absolutely amazing to think 15 Pink Tests, I think back to that first one we didn’t really know what to expect and the way that Test went on it just got pinker and pinker and bigger and better as it went on and from then on it’s just grown,” he told Sky News Australia on Thursday.
Robbie Williams has also donated the pink Alexander McQueen suit he wore during his iconic 2022 AFL Grand Final performance. “Today is a really special day Jane McGrath would be so proud I’m sure she’s looking upon us all today, this foundation this is her legacy it’s amazing and everyone jumps on board and well done Australia buy your pink virtual seats,” she said.
All funds raised from the Pink Test and the auctions will go towards funding McGrath breast care nurses around Australia to help families affected.
