John-Paul’s pregnant mother discovered that her baby had kidney failure at her 20-week scan.
After John-Paul’s dad Frank was identified as a tissue match, the loving father donated his kidney to his son who is now 12. Thanks to the operation, John-Paul was able to stop dialysis and lead a normal and happy childhood. As proof of John-Paul’s successful recovery, the pair have attended the British Transplant Games together every year since 2015.
