'We wanted to do this to raise awareness'
A school raised more than £2,000 for The British Heart Foundation in honour of a pupil who is in desperate need of a donor heart.
A child who attends the Union Road-based school is in desperate need of a donor heart and staff and pupils wanted to show their support. Year 5 teaching assistant, Leahn Melling, said: “The event was a huge success and the children loved it.“We wanted to do this to raise awareness. It affects more people than not and unfortunately we have a family whose child comes to our school that is affected by this.
Accrington Stanley provided an inflatable penalty shoot-out free of charge. The club’s team mascot cheered the students on and the Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn, Terry and Jean Hurn were amongst the crowd of proud parents.
