The Dandie Dinmont has attracted crowds to the Edinburgh gallery.
One of Scotland’s most-loved dog portraits now appears alongside other great artworks at the National Gallery.
It has become one of the Edinburgh gallery’s most talked-about paintings and is a huge hit across its social media channels. It also appears on a best-selling postcard. “They are named after a character from a novel by Sir Walter Scott and Callum is now on display alongside portraits of Sir Walter. “Every year, the Dandie Dinmont Society visit the Scott Monument then walk to Greyfriars Bobby and pop in to see Callum on the way. He has an army of fans and lots come to the gallery and ask, ‘Where’s the Dandie Dinmont?’ Whenever he appears on social media people repost the image. He’s a celebrity.”
