Scotland's most remote pub where punters have to hike 18 miles for a pint reopens

The most remote pub on mainland Britain has reopened following a £1million fundraising effort from locals.

The Old Forge closed for renovations in January, and following a several-month delay, reopened its doors on August 4. Locals on the day lined up outside the beloved boozer to celebrate the occasion. Most of the refurbishments were done by a team of locals, who re-insulated the property and installed new windows, electrics, and heating systems.

"The building wasn't energy efficient at all so that was our main focus. We upgraded the heating, got new windows and insulated the loft space. We rejigged the design inside and got new everything to make it comfortable."
