Theo Burrell was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour last year and is calling for the Government to dedicate more research funding to the disease.
An Antiques Roadshow expert who has an incurable brain tumour is calling on the UK Government to increase funding to study the disease. Scots TV ace Theo Burrell, 36, started suffering horrific migraines that left her unable to bend over or lie down in December 2021.
Theo is now campaigning alongside the charity Brain Tumour Research to help reach 100,000 signatures on its petition to increase funding, in the hope of prompting a parliamentary debate. Theo added: “I’ve signed the petition and encourage others to do the same. It’s hard not to feel angry about the whole experience. Brain tumours are so underfunded, and they have such a poor prognosis. Brain cancer seems to be a few steps ahead of us, it’s outsmarting us.
On June 13, Theo underwent surgery, where the doc managed to remove over 90 per cent of the tumour and started radiotherapy and chemotherapy just weeks later. Theo, who is mum to her two-year-old Jonah, admits that it was a 'lonely' experience in the hospital. Theo said: “I hate the wait for the results; I really feel the pressure of it all and I become more stressed and irritable. I used to always live in the future, I was always working on the next auction which was months down the line but now I try to live day to day, and enjoy what I’m experiencing right now, in the present. I never used to plan ahead of my next scan, but I’m trying to change that.
