Ronnie Humphreys hopes the substance will change his family's life, but experts think otherwise.
A dad thinks he's quids in after finding rare 'whale vomit' worth £40k on a Scottish beach - but experts say it's sewage. Ronnie Humphreys, 42, claims to have discovered a 2kg haul of ambergris on Leven Beach in Fife.
"The clumps also had squid beaks in it which is a sign of it being whale-vomit which is a key sign. The dog wouldn't leave it alone and a guy at Citizens Advice in the labs agreed that it's whale vomit. "I left it and continued our walk but something told me to go back and pick it up." Ronnie, who is unemployed, then took the clumps home. He says he carried out several tests including using a hot needle to see if the waxy substance melted.
