Lubna Kerr, from Edinburgh, opened her front door to find her house wrecked with torrents of water gushing down the stairs.
A Scots mum has been left devastated after she came home to find her ceilings caved in by a huge flood.
"I could hear the sound of water from the garage when I pulled up in the car but never expected how bad it was. There were two burst pipes - caused by the big freeze and then the thaw." "The family were going to get together for the holidays - play card games and eat some nice food here but that's not going to happen now. It's a shame but it could've been worse. Having had a heart attack years ago, If I'd been in bed at the time, it would've killed me. If anybody was in the house at the time, they would've been injured."
