Martin Dowey has been declared as the candidate to stand for the Tories in Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock.
Scots Tory chief Douglas Ross claims South Ayrshire Council's leader is the man to take back one of the party's target seats at the next General Election. Martin Dowey will contest the Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock seat when voters go to the polls.
Ross said: "I was already a councillor when I stood for Westminster and I think it gives you a great insight in terms of what actually matters to the people of the area. Being council leader, Martin knows the issues that need to be raised in this area better than anyone - it puts him in the perfect place to bring them to the table in the UK Parliament.
