Former Prime Minister John Howard says the federal election campaign boils down to who Australians want to lead the country for the next three years.
It comes as Liberal candidate Simon Kennedy launched Bennelong campaign alongside the former Prime Minister on Saturday.
“Do you want in Scott Morrison, a man who’s demonstrated a mastery of the detail of government?” Mr Howard said. “Being in charge of a government is not easy; you can’t wing it, you can’t make it up on the spot, you’ve got to understand what’s involved, you’ve got to know at least roughly what the unemployment rate is.”
He said the reason Anthony Albanese “slip of the tongue” on unemployment and cash rates attracted much attention is because those who had doubts about the Opposition Leader saw it as a symbolism of “inadequacy for the job”.
