Scott Morrison has responded to calls from Peter Dutton and apologised to Karen Andrews for failing to inform her he had sworn himself into her portfolio.

Mr Morrison called his former Cabinet colleague mid-morning on Thursday and apologised for not revealing they shared the same ministerial responsibilities.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton earlier on Thursday made a public appeal to his predecessor to finally make contact with Ms Andrews and apologise. “Obviously the prime minister’s taken the political opportunity, he’s sounding more like an opposition leader than a prime minister in the last couple of days; went borderline hysterical,” Mr Dutton told 2GB on Thursday.
