The Prime Minister's net satisfaction rating is at its lowest level in over a year, while opposition leader Anthony Albanese's rating has fallen to its lowest point since he took control of the Labor party more than two years ago.
found Mr Morrison’s approval ratings dropped but despite this, he still polled ahead of Labor's Mr Albanese. The primary vote poll saw Labor remain ahead of the Coalition despite falling two points to 38 per cent after recording a three year high of 40 per cent in the previous poll in late August.
The Coalition rose a point to 37 per cent after it had recorded its lowest levels since March 2019 in the poll conducted in late-August. In the preferred party vote Mr Morrison remained the preferred prime minister despite a bump in the opposition leader Mr Albanese’s ratings. The pair are now at their closest margin since March 2020 after the poll showed a 47-35 per cent preference for Mr Morrison, down from 50-34 per cent in the August 2021 poll. In another blow in the polls for Mr Morrison, his approval rating fell three points to 46 per cent while disapproval ratings grew three points to 50 per cent. The negative shift took the prime minister’s net satisfaction rating to minus four, his lowest rating since March 2020. Mr Albanese suffered a similar downturn in approval falling three points to 37 per cent with a one point rise in the dissatisfaction rating to 48 per cent. The net satisfaction rating of -11 for the opposition leader was the worst level since Mr Albanese succeeded Bill Shorten in 2019. Despite the slight shift in the prime minister's ratings, the latest poll showed a marginal improvement for the Coalition in the two-party preferred vote which went from being behind 46-54 per cent in the August poll to 47-53 per cent in this edition. Minor political parties received a bump in approval with a rise of one point to 12 per cent while the Greens stayed at 10 per cent and One Nation sustained its support at 3 per cent.
