He suggested their candidacy offered a valid choice to voters disgruntled with the direction of the Liberal Party during a speech to the Harvard Club of Washington DC. The prime minister was in Perth on Friday to announce the expansion of the Defence Industry Pathways Program, which will upskill additional teenagers graduating or leaving school in 14 regions across the country.Opposition leader Anthony Albanese had earlier paused in the middle of his press conference to recognise refugees from Afghanistan who are volunteering at a charity in Marrickville, in Sydney's inner west.
