Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury has fired back at suggestions the Pies will be too old next season. The Magpies fell short of the finals this year in a shocking fall from grace after winning the premiership in 2023. Collingwood head into next year with the oldest list in the competition and a host of question marks surrounding their list, which includes 10 players aged over 30.
Inexperienced means you are probably down the bottom trying to rebuild. “Maybe selfishly, as a guy who’s 36, I’d rather be in the experienced list chasing another flag.” The entire Magpies squad will return to training on November 25 with an early finish proving a blessing in disguise. It’s much more time compared to last off-season when they were coming off the grand final and then had to prepare for the Opening Round, which was an earlier start compared to previous seasons.
