The public should be made aware that Scripps is a not-for-profit institution with $3.3 billion in the bank.
Re “Most popular Scripps Health groups to exit Medicare Advantage at end of year, cutting off 32,000 patients” : The decision by Scripps Health to no longer allow its two largest medical groups to accept Medicare Advantage plans, effective Jan. 1, 2024, will result in the abandonment of 32,000 patients.
Many of these patients are in the middle of critical treatment, others are decades-long patients. Philanthropists who donate to Scripps, some whose names are on Scripps’ buildings, should also be made aware what Scripps Health has become — an institution only concerned with its bottom line. Remember this the next time you are solicited for money by Scripps Health. Henry Tarke La Mesa
