Janice Small Combs has defended her superstar son, Sean "Diddy" Combs, as he awaits trial on counts of sex trafficking.
The musician and producer is currently in federal custody as he awaits trial for his indictment in the Southern District of New York on counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.Sean 'Diddy' Combs pictured with his mother Janice Combs at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Janice Combs released a statement on Sunday through her attorney, which was shared on social media.
"To bear witness what seems like a public lynching of my son before he's had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words."In their indictment, federal prosecutors cited alleged "Freak Offs," Sean Combs' name for elaborate sex performances in which he is accused of drugging and coercing victims into performing extended sex acts with male sex workers, beginning around 2009.
"Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed." His mother wrote that she believes her son's "civil legal team opted to settle the ex-girlfriend's lawsuit instead of contesting it until the end, resulting in a ricochet effect as the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt."
