Sean Dyche believes Everton are playing well despite a disappointing start to the season but how far do statistics support his claims?
Other than the shambolic display in the 4-0 thrashing at Aston Villa, Sean Dyche insists he’s encouraged by what he’s seen from Everton so far this season. But while results have been disappointing so far, just how much encouragement can be taken from the Blues’ displays?
Injuries have hampered Dyche’s selections in the opening month of the campaign with last season’s top scorer Dwight McNeil finally getting on for his first appearance off the bench in the final 15 minutes at Bramall Lane; five different players being picked to spearhead the attack while for the latter fixture, the visitors named only seven of an allotted nine substitutes.
Despite these difficult circumstances, statistics collated by Comparisonator show that Everton are operating at a decent level that backs up the claims of their manager who declared after the last home reversal to Wolves: “You’ve got to score a goal but the rest of that is right. That’s how a team should be performing at a club like this in my opinion.”
