Michael Ball shares his thoughts on Everton's first point of the season against Sheffield United as the former Blue is left wanting more from the squad
It was a frustrating game really, again, but the positives are obviously we got our first goals and our first point this season.
I know Dwight McNeil came on but that was the only one, our firepower off the bench is non-existent at this moment in time and that's cost us three points, I feel. Our midfielders never pass forward. Never have, and they're not going to change their ways. It's backwards and sideways, very passive, and we rely on the defenders to somehow ping a ball 30-40 yards like they used to do back in my day - that's our style of play, unfortunately.
We do well in spells but as soon as we lose our concentration and stop doing the hard yards, we're getting punished. Sean Dyche has got to get the best of them right now, these players are the ones he's got to trust, it's going to be a long and hard season. Unfortunately he was isolated and we didn't get in and around him. Arnaut Danjuma was trying, he looked dangerous, but didn't get the ball out to Beto enough.
