A 29-year-old failed to resurface after falling in a Far North Queensland national park on Sunday.A search and rescue operation has resumed this morning for a 29-year-old man who reportedly fell from a remote waterfall in a national park south of Cairns.Emergency services said the man hiked into the national park with three others.
A search began near the waterfall in Wooroonooran National Park yesterday after a companion of the man reported he had fallen.Police officers, SES volunteers and eight swift water rescue technicians are continuing the search, along with a rescue helicopter. The route to the falls involves multiple water crossings and crews had to cross a river to access the area, Queensland Fire Department said.Babinda Falls is about a two-to-three-hour hike upstream of the Babinda Boulders, a popular swimming spot that can be treacherous in areas.
