Two Queensland twins have made history after being identified as only the second set of semi-identical twins in the world. The twins are the result of one egg being fertilised simultaneously by two sperm.

Two Queensland twins have made history after being identified as only the second set of semi-identical twins in the world.

Professor Nicholas Fisk from UNSW told Sky News when doctors and scientists conducted DNA studies it showed the twins were of different sex and weren’t identical, but weren’t fraternal either. It is understood the pair are the result of one egg being fertilised simultaneously by two sperm. This is only the second case ever reported for semi-identical twins.
