“The ultimate challenge for the adaptation was connecting the stories in a satisfying way that felt true. So many of the questions around the book were, ‘How did you get these women to be so honest? How did you get them to tell you these things?’ And the truth is I gave a lot of myself, and I was in a tough place, having lost much of my family, grieving and being alone. So these connections I made were more than a book for me,” Taddeo says. “They were a lifeline.
“I am especially excited that we gave sexuality a voice and a feeling, that we made it more about how the womenduring sex than how they look to the viewer, and that maybe the men will be a bit more on display,” she says. Taddeo also teases thatwho plays Sloane’s husband, Richard, admitted “he has never done anything more risqué or explicit in his career.” Beyond these women’s lives, there is the fictionalized version of Taddeo’s own, as inhabited by Woodley.
