In a final portrait, released by Buckingham Palace on the eve of her funeral, Queen Elizabeth II wears her signature pearl necklace, and a brooch that was a gift from her father, King George VI, on her 18th birthday.
The release of the poignant photograph came hours after the UK observed a minute’s silence in memory of the late monarch at 8pm on the eve of the funeral.
On Monday, Queen Elizabeth’s funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey. Numerous world leaders will attend – including the US President Joe Biden – as well as the entire Windsor family. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of members of the public have been filing into Westminster Hall, where the Queen’s coffin has been lying in state since Thursday, when it arrived in London. This was despite being warned that the wait time could exceed 24 hours.to all those who have paid their respects.
