New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins has revealed what role his predecessor Jacinda Ardern could take on next, months after her shock resignation earlier this year.

At his weekly press conference on Monday, Mr Hipkins teased that Ms Ardern might maintain her interest in foreign policy work through a role at Christchurch Call.

The moved followed his increasing favourability with voters, which has put him level with Nationals opposition leader Christopher Luxon in the upcoming election in October.
