Hundreds of Nick Kyrgios' friends and fans have sent emotional messages in support of the tennis star after he announced devastating family news on Tuesday night.
The 28-year-old Wimbledon finalist took to social media to share the news along with several photos of himself with his “Yiayia” – the Greek word for grandmother.
Kyrgios’ brother Christos commented on the post: “She will look over us always. Remember her and her strength”.“Thank you for everything. My only regret is that there wasn’t more time, more laughs, more memories,” he wrote.Both posts were inundated with supportive messages from close friends, family and well-wishers offering their condolences.“Sending love and thoughts to the family,” Sydney"PR Queen" Roxy Jacenko wrote.Another fan wrote: “I’m so sorry for you Nick.
Kyrgios’ maternal grandmother died in 2014 and he chose to honour her after a win at the Australian Open in 2015 by not signing the camera.
