Jeffery Bearnard Harris was sentenced under the state’s Habitual Offender Act because he had four prior felony convictions, including armed robbery.
A Selma man has been sentenced to life without the possibly of parole for a 2017 shooting that left another seriously injured.
District Attorney Michael Jackson said a jury in May took only 15 minutes to convict Harris of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. At some point, Harris got out of the vehicle and fired shots, striking the victim in face. The victim had to have reconstructive surgery on his nose and is now blind in one eye, Jackson said.
