Democratic U.S. Rep. and Senate candidate Val Demings went on the attack Tuesday in her first debate against Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, castigating him as a serial liar. Rubio criticized Demings for supporting President Joe Biden's economic agenda. said Monday that one of his campaign workers was “brutally attacked” over the weekend while canvassing a neighborhood in Hialeah in South Florida.

“Last night one of our canvassers wearing my T-shirt and a [Gov. Ron] Desantis hat was brutally attacked by 4 animals who told him Republicans weren’t allowed in their neighborhood in #Hialeah #Florida,” tweeted Rubio. “He suffered internal bleeding, a broken jaw & will need facial reconstructive surgery.”

In Rubio’s tweet, the senator published several photos of the injured campaign worker with a bruised and blackened right eye and a bloody face. The campaign worker’s name was not released.
